Why we use it
Interviews are essential. They are also subjective.
A clinical interview depends on memory, self-perception and the skill of the person asking. All three can be excellent and still be wrong.
Adults with ADHD have often spent decades underestimating their own difficulties, because struggle is all they have ever known. Others have spent years being told they are lazy or careless, and arrive doubting their own account. Self-report is valuable, but on its own it is a single source of evidence.
QbCheck adds a second, independent source: a direct behavioural measurement that does not care how articulate you are, how well you mask, or what you believe about yourself. Your diagnosis rests on evidence from more than one direction.
What it measures
The three core dimensions of ADHD, measured directly.
Attention
How consistently you respond over time: reaction-time variability, missed targets and attentional lapses that no interview can observe directly.
Impulsivity
Responses fired before the brain has finished checking: clicks on the wrong targets, measured precisely rather than inferred from anecdotes.
Activity
Your webcam tracks micro-movement throughout the test: the restlessness adults learn to suppress in company shows up clearly when measured.
Your results are compared against normative data from people of your age and sex without ADHD. The report shows exactly where you sit against that benchmark on each dimension, in numbers, not impressions.

A 20-minute task
Simple shapes appear on screen and you respond to specific ones. It is deliberately monotonous. That is the point: sustained attention on an unstimulating task is exactly what ADHD disrupts.
The webcam tracks movement
While you respond, facial tracking measures head movement continuously. Together with your response pattern, this produces measurements across all three ADHD dimensions.
I interpret it in context
The results arrive before your clinical interview, so we can explore anything they raise together. QbCheck informs the diagnosis; it never replaces clinical judgement.

The deeper point is about subjectivity. Two clinicians can hear the same story and weigh it differently. A measurement of your reaction-time variability is the same number whoever reads it. Adding an objective anchor reduces the inherent subjectivity of psychiatric assessment, and that protects you: from over-diagnosis as much as from being dismissed.
